My first FoodBuzz event at Carraba’s

I recently joined the FoodBuzz Featured publisher program. I wasn’t really sure what all it entailed, but I knew there would be fun food related events coming my way! This weekend was the first one, sponsored by Carraba’s. They told us to show up with a guest and we’d get some demos of their signature dishes. I brought my roomie!

I’ll admit that I was skeptical about the quality of what we’d see since Carraba’s is a chain restaurant. However, I was really pleasantly surprised at how they made everything from scratch and had all these rules and processes in place ensure the dishes were served fresh even with all the traffic they get on busy nights. On top of that, the food & drink we were so graciously served was delicious!

Our first stop was the open kitchen where one of the chefs showed us how they make their pesto & one of their signature pasta dishes. He talked us through the recipes and some of they ways they manage cooking so many dishes all at once, while the wait staff brought around some DELICIOUS blackberry sangria. WOW, that stuff was great! We heard a rumour that the secret ingredients were blackberry syrup and tuaca. I must try this at home!

After the demos, we all sat down together as bloggers and guests to enjoy a full meal. What  a nice touch to print out individual menus for us!

We got to pick an appetizer, soup or salad and a pasta entree.

(L-R: Bruschetta, Lentil Soup, Penne w/ Fennel Sausage & Goat Cheese, Tag Pic Pac, Pasta Weesie)

The lentil soup had great texture, the goat cheese added a lovely creaminess to the penne, the shrimp in the Tag Pic Pac were all cooked perfectly. I was really impressed with the quality of the food! YUM!

The drinks kept flowing and so did the convo. We chatted about food, blogging, cooking. It was such a nice way to spend the afternoon and meet other people who are just as passionate about food as I am!

After we all wrapped up our meals and convos, the manager & waitstaff came out with even MORE food for us to take with us! Unbelievable!
